  • Had a great time and learned a lot

It was great - much better than I expected, especially with the synced Detour. Count me as a fan!
  • Terrible

You can't find anything on this app. Where's the Philadelphia architecture tour?
  • Amazing

This is the best money I have spent in the app store. With this guided tour, you have your own private guide. It's a great way to immerse yourself in the neighborhood. Love it! ❤️
  • Best city tours

The best way to familiarize yourself with a new city!
  • I Wish I Had Found These Sooner!

My wife and I downloaded the Kevin Burns about the Brooklyn Bridge on a beautiful sunny day in New York. Now I wish we had started doing these tours sooner! The tour was so much better than any other audio tour we had ever been on! The attention to detail, the accuracy of the GPS triggers, the pacing, the post app statistics, they have clearly put a lot of thought and heart into this app. Ken Burns had a lot of good information and pointed out a lot of sights I would have missed or been unaware of their significance. It felt almost like having a friend there with you, guiding you along and pointing out all the interesting sites. The way the GPS triggers guided you along the route was a lot friendlier than "turn left on x street." I appreciated that Ken Burns would say, "look for the Shake Shack and keep it on your left as you walk along this road." It felt a lot more personal. The accuracy was also something that blew my mind. I remember at one point my jaw dropped when Ken Burns specifically pointed out that a police car would be sitting at a certain spot, and it was! Just the sheer knowledge that it displayed was beyond anything I expected. The music that played as you were moving really made the time between points pass quickly when I decided to take a little longer in one spot; subtle and delightful. One feature I really loved was the synced tours. It made it very easy for my wife and I to tour together and be listening to the same thing at the same time. The app is very slick and easy to use and was a great joy to have. Thank you so much for making this such a high quality tour. I can't wait until this weekend to try out our next tour!
  • A unique, valuable, and enriching experience

After taking two "Detours" last week in LA, all I can say is that I only wish I had done more! Taking a Detour is like taking a walk through your old friend's new neighborhood. Both tours I did were guided by long-time residents and business owners. They were well thought out and held my interest every step of the way. The app does have a glitch or two that it needs to smooth out before getting a full five star rating, but nothing that will keep me from recommending it to all of my friends (and to you)! Happy exploring!
  • Not for tourists

    By MrEricSir
If you don't have an always-on internet connection -- or even a slow connection -- this app glitches out in all sorts of strange ways. In other words if you're a tourist, this tour app is not for you. What were they thinking?!
  • Love it!!

Criticism: loses my location occasionally. This may be due to other factors though.
  • Perhaps the technology should be visible...

This is a cool app. I read an article about it while traveling to Austin. The article mentioned that one of the goals was to make the app's technology invisible. Perhaps it should be a bit more visible. The app is a bit tough to use at first. A few things: A) you truly have to be on the tour to hear the stories. It's not like an audio book where you can escape to a distant location. B) A tour must be planned out, and if with a group, everyone will need to sync up to the app and have headphones. C) Charge your phone. You will use a lot of power with the location services. Overall, what I did get to hear was very cool. I can tell it was well researched and produced well. The first stop was confusing a bit because the name of the store was not what was listed for the tour. It was the place, but someone unfamiliar with it wouldn't know it. I hope they get a Birmingham, Alabama Detour produced soon. I can't wait to actually do one of these and complete the tour. Thank you.
  • Great way to explore a city

    By bub181
The tours are great. They give you a glimpse into local life and culture. Could the developers reduce the battery usage? Maybe by reducing the amount of time that the GPS is on. Also in dense city areas there should be more room for error when detecting proximity to points of interest as the GPS signal is not as accurate with the buildings around.
