Description

If you’re looking for free or low-cost campgrounds or enjoy boondocking out in the wild, this is the app for you. It features over 8,800 free camping locations and over 3,500 that are less than $10! Our filters allow you to find them very easily. Overall, our app includes more than 27,000 camping sites – no other app comes close. NOTE THAT THIS APP DOES *NOT* INCLUDE PRIVATE/COMMERCIAL CAMPGROUNDS, ONLY PUBLIC. The Ultimate Public Campgrounds app is dedicated to presenting information about publicly-owned, non-commercial campgrounds across the entire United States, including Hawaii and Alaska. In this app you will find facilities ranging from full-service campgrounds at state parks and Corps of Engineers parks to remote boondocking and back-packing locations with no facilities or services. It is based on data from the web-based Ultimate US Public Campground Project http://www.ultimatecampgrounds.com. Included are US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, Fish & Wildlife Service, Bureau of Reclamation, Corps of Engineers, Pacific Crest Trail, state parks and other state facilities, county and regional parks, municipal parks, utility company facilities, Indian reservations, military, Tennessee Valley Authority, non-profit (museums and conservation groups) and a handful of miscellaneous locations. Download many NPS PDF maps as well as some TOPO maps. The PDF Maps greatly enhance your camping experience, and can even be viewed when offline. Import routes from a GPX file. This makes it much easier locating campgrounds near the route you're traveling. Current statistics: 26,719 total campsites. Over 4,000 of the campsites are FREE! Over 6,000 of the campsites are $10 or under! An updated database for this app is available approximately every month so you have the most recent and up-to-date information available. For more info click the Support button or visit http://goo.gl/HrrA7z This app is intended for everyone regardless of their camping interests - it can be filtered by the facility owner, such as Forest Service or county. Users can also filter on camping preference, such as Tent, RV or Back-Country, elevation, fee, showers, and more. Mark locations as your "favorite." Tapping on a campground location on the map shows available information about each location such as total number of camp sites, number of RV sites, number of electric hookups, whether there are showers and/or an RV dump station, fees, nearest town, phone number, elevation and web site. Of course the app can only show what information that can be discovered for each location. Send location data directly to our Road Trip Planner app. Cache non-Apple maps to disc for offline viewing. While this app works best with Internet access, it is not required as the campground data is embedded within the app. Some supplemental services do require Internet access but this does not detract from the overall usefulness of the app. Note that this app does NOT contain information on commercial campgrounds. Also note that military campgrounds are included because they are government-owned, but in most cases their use is limited to active-duty and retired military personnel. In an effort to continually improve the accuracy of the data, users are encouraged to use the feedback function on the Ultimate Campgrounds web site or the email function within the app to submit corrections, additions and suggestions. There is also a Macintosh version with a similar name, available from the Mac App Store.

  • So...how do I search?

This app has lovely a database of places we would like to explore. For the life of me, I cannot find a way to search a location with a search bar. The only way is to flick the map to the area? Surely I'm missing something. Second ding: the support link is a 404 error, so no contact through app or website. Help me find the search method other than map flicking, and this is aces.

Great App! It is no longer free but has much more information on the campgrounds and links to reservations, location, etc. Replaces about 5 books!

Wow! Finally someone did their homework and placed some effort into making an App. Shows every campground I was aware of, even the rinky-dink little ones that are not well known here in Washington state. Great job, thanks!

This app has been pretty good, though on several occasions there were closed ranch roads when the app pointed us to BLM lands.

This is the best app I have ever bought. My girlfriend and I took a trip from Colorado to Florida with nothing but our camping equipment in the car. This app found amazing places I would never have found on my own. It tells you where you can sleep on the beach and state parks. It was an amazing three week trip. It has helped me on a dozen other trips across the U.S. we would just drive until we were getting tired and then pull out this app. I have recommended it to everyone. Get out!! Have fun!! This app will help you do it!!

This app is really what I have been looking for. We have aggressive dogs and we're able to find obscure sights. With the satellite view we were also able to see where we could turn around our rv and that is great for avoiding problems. We love it!!

What a great help for campers! Zoom and click, all public campgrounds in your location show up. Click and you get quick basic info... Click again, more details and usually a phone number! Flow seamlessly across state and county lines, without fumbling around the internet to navigate each state's website. Works even without internet... If you have internet, web links and weather, etc are provided. This is essential for our traveling style.... Like blowing tumbleweeds, we don't always know how far we will travel each day. But we need a place to rest at night. I usually wait until afternoon and start looking for our place for the night. This app is almost perfect and is a stress eliminator! Thanks, Happy Campers
