MileIQ automatically tracks and records your mileage in the background as you drive your car for business. MileIQ users save an average of $6,900 per year. Tracking your miles for tax deduction purposes? MileIQ is the easiest most accurate way to create logs that follow IRS mileage standards. Easy to Use. Loaded with Features. Two of the biggest mistakes manual paper log keepers make is not maintaining a contemporaneous mileage log and mixing their business miles with personal miles. Inaccurate record keeping can result in rejected mileage deduction claims and IRS penalties. Automatic Mileage Detection MileIQ creates an accurate, contemporaneous record of the miles you drive for work. Automatic drive detection means no stopping and starting the app. No need for manual paper logs.  Accurate Mileage Tracking Features like Name Your Location and One Swipe Classification give your tax-deductible mileage records the accurate details they need to pass IRS scrutiny. A Custom Fit No matter whether you're tracking miles for reimbursements or tax deductions, MileIQ gives you the tools and flexibility to create mileage record details that reflect the miles you drive. • Personalize each drive with vehicle names, job numbers or any designation that fits your business • Use bulk editing to give groups of drives a single purpose • Use Frequent Drives to auto-classify the drives you make most often • Add drives, delete drives, duplicate drives, and more Making Your Business Mileage Count The 2017 standard IRS mileage rate of 53.5 cents per mile driven for business, 14 cents for charity and 17 cents for medical mileage. MileIQ calculates your largest mileage tax deduction. For example, let’s say you drive 1,000 or 10,000 miles for business using the standard mileage rate of 53.5 cents you’d be entitled to a mileage deduction of $535 or $5,350. Detailed Records of Every Drive A mileage log is only as good as the reports it generates. Stored securely in the cloud, MileIQ sends weekly mileage reports directly to your inbox. Need more specificity, use the web dashboard to generate custom reports.  • 20.9 billion miles logged with MileIQ • 60 million hours saved from manual logging • $2.5 billion in mileage deductions and reimbursements Join Millions of Drivers Who’ve Saved Billions of Dollars using MileIQ Try MileIQ for free. Mileage logs that meet IRS mileage deduction standards Battery Consumption MileIQ consumes almost no power when stationary (as it quickly goes to "sleep"), and it will only minimally increase battery consumption when in transit. To achieve this minimal battery usage, MileIQ uses smartly constructed formulas to detect drives rather than only using GPS (which requires more power) for location data. • So far seems to be working great

Due to problems others are having I'm holding off on rating it any higher, but it's working good for me so far
  • Missing a few miles daily

    By DanielCrestino
I started using MileIQ October 1st, 2017 and I trusted it would capture all of my mileage correctly. I then noticed it wasn’t capturing all of my mileage. So what I did, I started my cars trip A on my dashboard to start at 0. Then I started mileiq and saw by the end of the day there is at least 5-15 miles lost daily. That may not be a lot but if you add that up over a year, it could be a lot of money lost. I am considering discontinuing my membership with mileiq and manually track my mileage instead.

They took 60 bucks and never made the app open for me.
  • Seems to work, but...

It seems to work and the interface is easy. I like to App’s ability to learn and auto classify frequent drives. However, much like a previous user’s review, I too am seeing a discrepancy in the accuracy and missing drives. The locations it identifies are not always accurate which makes it difficult to identify the actual location where the software picked up the Start or End of a drive. This a serious credibility issue. My second complaint is the inability to categorize personal charity drives. I work with different charities MileIQ prohibits assigning a deductible $ amount for separate charity. The user can create a separate listing for each charity, but is not allowed to assign the mileage rate. Even though the total mileage is tallied, the user must do the math manually at the end of each month or at the end of the year. But isn’t that the point of the having the App do the work? I do a lot of charity work and the App forces all charities to be grouped under the title of “Charity” if the user wants automatic mileage calculations for IRS Tax purposes. I have discussed this with customer support several times and they don’t appear to care. Makes me wonder if they actually understand how it works in the real world of small business and tax codes.

Expensive for what it does and it doesn't do it very well. The big issue that you wouldn't know unless you've used the app is that it will not register quick stops. So a quick stop at the post office or the gas station will not be counted. And if that is your first stop, then you drive an hour to your next stop it will not register until you stop long enough and that means you have just lost the deduction and the entire reason you use the app. Additionally there is no way to manually add in the stop. It's so frustrating to sit there for 6 or 7 minutes in the parking lot, refreshing the app until it recognizes it as a stop then you can leave. Very annoying. MY MILEAGE DEDUCTION WILL BE SMALLER THIS YEAR BECAUSE OF THIS APP. All of this would be solved with a simple "I'm at a stop" button.

My husband works a secular job and as a minister... With the categories we can distinguish between both under 'business' I've not made an actual report as of yet but I hope it will give place to add miles for each. I have spent days making a report from written records for our income tax, not to mention that he would forget to record so many entries! I also travel for church purposes and for my home based business and this helps me as well. I would add the 5th star if I could enter the odometer at least for beginning of the year. Thanks for a great app!! Update: they now include a page for adding information about your vehicles. I’ve used it for a couple of years now and still find it easier than going through written mileage journals!! Even if it misses a small drive here and there, it’s still better. I keep mileage (on a business app)for any important business trips anyway so I have a backup for that. After looking at some other apps, I’m thinking it might be a good idea if, in the future, they’d add ability to keep receipts for business trips as well. :)
  • Good app

I would say it's good and serves its purpose however after I come home from work and look at my phone I sometimes click the wrong classification for each time I drive (to specify what each drive was for), and there is no way to Un-do what you chose... I wish there was either a back button or a way to go into each drive and edit what you logged like the notes and stuff for example
  • I'd never keep track on my own...

I just took a job as an independent contractor and if I didn't have this app I'd never keep track of all of these miles on my own. It's crazy to not use it! I need all of the tax deductions I can get, and I'm sure to get more accuracy with this app.
