  • Not even if free

After a week of using this it is clear for me gat this app is defective and provides little value. Music freezes, skips playlists, app freezes, app does not respond well to touch screen, etc. I have to say at this point I would not use this app on my iPhone for free, let alone pay $10/month.

This app is not worth the $5. The free version of this app is great for the iPhone. This paid version adds little value to the experience. I bought this version because of the Apple watch app, but it is worthless. You have to start the run using the phone and you cannot pause/resume your run from the watch. In addition, even if you choose to run with your phone you will not get notifications to start running/walking on the watch. I’m not just disappointed with this purchase, I’m actually angry.
  • No Better than the Free Version

I paid for the distance/calorie tracking upgrade thinking it would map where I ran. It doesn’t. I run different routes and I’d like to be able to compare a route from one run to the next. Not at all worth $5.
  • Good plan, strange execution

Overall, I believe this is a quality couch to 5k program as it’s similar to ones I’ve used in the past. I appreciate that it’s not chatty and bombarding me with encouragement all the time. I really like that a whole lot. Redoing workouts when needed in other similar programs had always been kind of annoying because the script gets predictable. My issues with the app however will take some getting used to for the purchase price to become worthwhile. I would love to be able to get the app to stop asking me to legit join up with apple health. I use a Fitbit for monitoring stuff and don’t have any interest in using apple health because it complicates Fitbit usage. Fitbit integration would actually be awesome. Second, the music interface is slow and weird and that’s a huge sticking point for me. It takes unnecessarily long to respond (to be fair I’m using an iPhone 6, but it’s not like this app should be chewing up serious processor capability) and at times covers over portions of the screen, preventing access to things that need to be clicked (like at the end of a workout and the award of a trophy. I had to kill the app because there was no other way to exit to anything). Last, the music player doesn’t stop when force-closing the app. When I killed the app to get away from the trophy screen, the music kept playing. I double checked to be sure it was closed and it was. I waited out of curiosity to see if it would continue playing music after the current track finished. It did. Very strange behavior in my opinion. Anyhow, this might not be the couch to 5k experience for me or maybe I’ll get used to it but my initial impression is that it’s seriously irritating to use.

I’ve done the C25K program before and it’s a great program. When I decided to purchase the full version of the app it was because I was under the impression that it would work on my Apple Watch without the need to have my phone on me as well since my watch has cellular. That is not the case. Not being required to have my bulky phone with me on a run is 90% of the reason I bought the watch with cellular in the first place.
  • Needs work

Please allow it to send voice cues when using our iWatch. It’s hard to watch a watch and run.
  • Does not work with Apple Watch

I am not able to start with the watch I have to use my phone to start stop and pause so essentially it’s worthless because I do NOT bring my phone in the gym I want a refund
  • Glitches

Really glitchy. Not an easy user interface, didn’t work well with Spotify. Returning it to get my money back. I did like their playlists but not that you had to pay $5 a month for them.
  • No HealthKit

I have been using this app for a couple years, it’s still pretty buggy but is also the best option on the market for couch-to-5k apps (which makes me a little sad...) I first downloaded C25k around 2014. Somehow they have been able to create a monetized music streaming services, but it is still so difficult to integrate HeathKit, which was designed to be relatively simple to add into current apps. I purchased the Pro version, only to have access to the Apple Watch app, which lags behind its iPhone companion by 10-15 seconds. So... really, it’s the best option (with worse competition) but it’s also seriously lacking features that make it a better user experience. (Yet somehow the develop team is able to create and push a weird music screaming app, Among other things.)
