Description

Hokusai is a multitrack audio editor for iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Record or import a track, and make it sound the way you want it to: not just trimming the ends, but full cut, copy, paste and delete, and a suite of filters and special effects available. "Beautiful clutter-free interface" — TouchProducer.com "Hokusai will convince you that audio was meant to be edited with a touch screen — it's just so natural within this app that you’ll find yourself consistently coming back to it." — iOS Music And You Edit many tracks side-by-side, mix them together, and export to Wave or MP4 format — then transfer them to your computer, send them to another app on your device, or upload to cloud services. Hokusai is streamlined to give you a clean, clear view of your tracks. Use the familiar pinch and swipe gestures to zoom right in and fiddle with fine detail, or step back to see the big picture. Select pieces of audio. Live "scrubbing" means you can hear the sound under your fingertip as you make your adjustments. And you needn't fear a bad edit with our full undo/redo support — even after closing your project. Hokusai comes free with a set of useful tools such as fade in/out, normalise volume levels, reverse time, and basic synthesis. If you need more power, you can upgrade from inside the app to add new tools and effects, including: Per-track volume/mute/panning, selecting across multiple tracks at once, presets and favourites, grain synthesis, noise gating, time-stretching, pitch-bending, echo, reverb, modulation (AM & FM), resonance, distortion, grunge, vocal levelling, monster voice, high/low/band-pass/notch-cut filter and more — many of which can be previewed live.

I LOVE THIS APP!!! I use it for my clean edits and remixes. I was speechless compared to the other app I used on my old Android tablet, which is called NCH Mixpad. This app deserves a 5/5... But please fix the part where it decides if the selection of an audio is too short! ;) Edit: I was talking about how if I select a part, it automatically makes it longer or shorter. Sorry if it still doesn’t make too much sense. 😃

I’ve edited my songs with this app without any problems, and I was using Dropbox to import the music. I deleted Hokusai , but now after having it again, my Dropbox file and song is nowhere to be found. :( I tried restarting my phone, moving my song into another file, and a lot of other things but like nothing works 🙃

Hokusai 2 Review So I’m a former  employee so I have a high standard when it comes to Apps, design and productivity. I needed to do some serious audio editing, Hokusai 2 was among the top I had in mind. I needed something Professional, with a full suite of options. So I loaded up the app and went to work. What I loved: - It was easy to import audio and splice the audio the way I wanted it - Very full featured, allows me to split the stereo tracks, which I was impressed with - LOTS of options, from ducking, fade in/out, silence, gain, gain compressor, white noise, etc. I need to stop listing them because Ill be here for a hour. - TONS of Special effects, from phaser, chorus, etc. - Allows to convert audio to various formats - Allows to heighten audio tracks so its easier to see - Allows to zoom in very intuitively, no dropped frames even on my iPad Air 2 - Quick conversions when altering audio What I didnt like: - The App gets confused when gesturing between the Heighten Track height and Zooming. I cant begin to tell you how many times I wanted to zoom but it heightened the track size. - Not as big of deal but when I left the project and re-entered a bug popped up where it didnt load any of my tracks or even project name. It was completely blank. I was worried that the app deleted all the data but when I cloned the project it was there, I forced closed the app and went back to the original project and the data was back. Again no big deal but the bug should be rectified. - I can only increase the gain by 3.0dB each time (which I could push it to 6.0 or higher instead of redoing it twice) I was surprised that I did all the editing in the Free version and was able to export it out without needing any of the upgraded features. I didnt need to buy the Pro pack but I did anyway just to say Thank you to the developer for making my job SO MUCH EASIER. This App saved me from rushing home, hitting traffic, and stressing to make my appointments throughout the day. Thank you.

For your next update, I have a few things I wish to be here for users who upgraded to pro. - Vocal reducer - Vocal booster - Instrumental effects - Instrumental & Vocal extraction tools - When using two tracks, being able to sync in tempo and pitch - Being able to change pitch and tempo without any buggy effects - Much more that people would like to use Thank you. :)

I’ve been using this app for quite a while and so far, my only complaint is that you can’t just simply edit audio from a video on your phone. I always have to download my sounds and music off the internet with another app so I can turn it into an audio file. I shouldn’t have to worry about it when the app should be taking care of this. Also, there is a files app that apple has made where you can move videos to it and it works with Hokusai, but whenever I try to select what I want to edit, the thumbnail is faded and wont let me select it. The app is well organized and is easy to use, but if you can’t edit anything you have on your phone, then what’s the point in downloading the app?

I am a journalist and use this app to edit audio in the field. I love it and it’s better than most of the competition however it needs a splitting function. That way I can multitrack a story and instead of adding silence to the other track, I can split it and move it. That function is essential to editing a story. Please please add it and I’d be happy to recommend it to my many colleagues who are looking for an audio editor.
