I have been using care.com for about 8 years. Both the app and website need help. When you are searching jobs it would be nice to hide the ones that don't work for you. Also, can you add a filter for part time and full time. I'm looking for 40 hours and when I search regularly scheduled I also get jobs that are 1-2 days a week. Need better way to flag spam/scams on the app. Also better vetting of families. In the last two years there has been a big influx and scammers on here. I try to delete messages on the app and the next time I open my app they are there.

Are you kidding me?! Why are we required to spend a bunch of money trying to get a job? What a waste of what used to be great app! Guess I'll look somewhere else since I will be deleting this app...
  • Care.com's Mobile App Is Terrible

First off, Care.com is a terrible website. I never liked their app either. They never really improve on it either, or take paying member suggestions to heart, no matter how many times their caregivers or members write in to suggest. Everyone has taken to venting online instead. The most annoying things: on the regular website, as well as in the mobile app, there is a huge limit on the amount of text allowed in the description area, when you go to post a job. The character limit count for posting jobs can only be 850 letters. NOT NEARLY enough room to state what you’re looking for when you’re hiring a complete stranger to come into your home on a permanent basis. If I’m paying a ridiculous $30 to $45 a month for a membership, I expect to have a lot more leeway with entering job duties or descriptions. Applicants appreciate that. Craigslist does, and they’re FREE! You also cannot switch the view to landscape view in the mobile app; only a vertical view. Care.com's blocking feature on the website and mobile app doesn’t work. If it’s not working out with someone that you had hired on Care.com, you're better off just firing them immediately, instead of posting a new ad looking for someone else, or the caregiver that you're looking to replace WILL LITERALLY SEE YOUR AD!!! This is exactly what happened to me. I hired someone who was completely flakey/unreliable, and she actually saw my new job post and immediately quit at the worst time possible. The blocking feature on Care.com (on the website, mobile app) should be able to block a specific member from seeing any and all of your posting activity on Care.com.... That’s what an online blocking feature is FOR. Care.com's monthly membership fees are extremely high, considering what little paying members can do in the way of job posting or responding. Now, even if you're a premium paying member, Care.com has the temerity to actually block you from providing your phone number in private messaging to caregivers to schedule a phone interview. Instead, now they'll MAKE you use their lame "safe" anonymous calling feature (which nobody wants to use). Members and caregivers should be given the option of choosing to use that feature, not be blocked or forced to use it in order to make contact with a caregiver. I've had several caregivers complain to me about this, when all they're trying to do is schedule a phone interview! Also, you can forget about using Care.com's criminal background check feature too, as it takes almost an entire month to give you the results on a background check report or driving record. You're better off doing your own separate background check on another site. At least you'll get the results within hours, not weeks before hiring a caregiver. Unreal!! Care.com has NO customer service to speak of. Your calls to support only get forwarded to some clueless flunky in the Philippines who can barely understand you, and can't help you anyhow. All they can do is "pass your message on." You'd be lucky to get your issue resolved. Talk about a total lack of corporate responsibility. Here's the message: Care.com IS THE WORST WEBSITE that I've ever paid for the "privilege" of posting jobs to locals. They're an ongoing joke in the caregiving field. The locals can't stand using them either. We all have less hassle posting/answering ads elsewhere, like on Facebook. What's worse- despite anyone who dares to complain, CARE.com has your money (and oblivious shareholders), so they DON'T CARE! Never have, and never will. Avoid them if you don't want to tear your hair (and wallet) out trying to find a caregiver.
  • Not worth it!

This service is overpriced, difficult to use and most of the sitters are not available without a lot of prior notice. I was hoping to be able to find sitters without having to contact several people as I was doing before, but I am still contacting ten people before I find an available sitter. The availability calendars are useless because apparently no one uses them. The convenience of the credit card pay was also negated due to the fact that I was double charged and Care.com refused to refund it. I had to dispute it with my credit card company. I do not recommend this company.
  • Scam

You shouldn't make people pay just so a parent can respond to their message. I tried to apply for nanny jobs, and the parents can't even respond to my messages without me paying monthly.

I paid everything I needed to look good on here and all I get is robots trying to scam me. Don't recommend not worth the money

It is expensive to use. More and more so each time. I am a "care pro" and get minimal work from them.
  • Easy to use but missing important features

For the most part it's easy to use. However, I have not been able to click on care seeker names in the app to learn more about them. Also, it's not possible to report spam in the app like it is on the desktop site; it only directs you to send an email that doesn't include details of the user. It's difficult tonnage changes to my pay details as well.
  • Quite disappointed and confused

I applied for care.com in hopes of making a huge difference with the elderly as they are always been the "forgotten people", yet...they are the very backbone of our country and deserve much more and much better than they receive! I was utterly shocked to learn that to apply requires money to do so! Very disconcerting when you are capable, willing and want to help others who are often lost and forgotten. It definitely should NOT be a requirement to spend money to help others with the experience, desire and love to apply!
  • Terrible solution for ipad

I use the care.com site as someone who posts jobs frequently. It is so disappointing that the iPad app only works in portrait and does not adjust to landscape. As someone who uses a keyboard with their iPad this is a total miss.
