It was an incredible learning experience and the app works flawlessly.” - by Anthony “Road to Hana & Haleakala This app was excellent. We bought both the Road to Hana & the Haleakala tours and they were excellent. Not only did it tell about the best spots to see on our adventure, but it also gave us the history of Hawaii, Maui, and the areas we were exploring. Never did the GPS cut out on either tour. This app made our trips a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you!” - by Heather “Road to hana Man this app is spot on brah. Made the trip even fun, excellent history of the land, everything was accurate from 1 to the end, best thing is you don't need data to run it all it needs is a GPS signal. Thank you eh! The app started out well enough. The information provided was interesting and informative. And then about halfway to Hana, all cellular connectivity was lost, and the app stopped functioning. Despite all the reviews I saw attesting to how the app would continue to function with only GPS based information on location, that wasn’t my experience. I just got a message on my screen stating “No internet connection” and “Try again”. So we did the best we could with a paper map, and still enjoyed the trip, but no thanks to the app. Addendum/update: when I contacted the developer, an apology and a refund was offered.

  • Best App for Road to Hana

    By CaraEndy
This app is a must have if you are going to drive the road to Hana. It took us to every single spot with great details in direction and history of the area. They pointed out many local spots that could easily get passed up if you didn't have the app. It doesn't matter if you have service, once the app is downloaded it goes off of your location.

This app was well worth the money. I know we wouldn't have enjoyed our road to Hana trip as much without it. I loved the music and the narrator was easy to understand and fun to listen to. I will be recommending this app to anyone I know going to Hawaii.
  • Best “Road to Hana” Tour App

Don’t pay for tour guide !!! Rent a car, download this app and start your journey. Recommend playing through car speakers or portable speaker to hear many stories and directions to amazing stops along your journey. I did Reverse Road To Hana option and highly recommend this direction. (I did regular route years ago). Best $5.99 I spent on my vacation hands down.

  • Shaka Guide is Fantastic!!

This was my 3rd time on the road to Hana but the first time touring with Shaka. We stopped places I had no clue existed! My husband and 3 kids kept saying how awesome the tour was. We listened to the whole audio (reverse road to Hana). Loved the stories and the songs. Seriously. This was awesome. One couple we ran into a couple days later said they had use the Shaka guide as well and we spent quite a bit of time talking about the cool features. I downloaded the tour before we left Wifi and then turned off my cellular service like the app suggests. We couldn't get over the accuracy of the GPS prompts. It was really like having a guide in the car with us. Hope you enjoy as much as we did. Mahalo Nui Shaka Guide!!

This app is a must have! Made the drive so smooth, adventurous, and EASY! Yes, it's a long day, but this guide helps you decide what's worth the stop and what isn't, points out stuff you would never find on any of the tourist maps, gives detours, history, and some fun music! We loved it.

this made our hana trip stress free (mostly) and was super informative. it did recommend a couple overpriced places, not sure if that was by contract or what, but for 6 bucks it was totally worth it.

One of the best apps I've ever downloaded and so worth the $5.99. We did the classic Road to Hana tour and it was amazing. Turn off data and keep gps on. It knows where you are and which direction you are going and gives you information accordingly. I like how he tells you when to skip certain stops if you are short on time. And I loved the Hawaiian music, wish there was more of that actually. Also, tidbits about Hawaiian history sprinkled throughout.
