  • Great App

I enjoy DayOne for several reasons. It’s simple to use. There is question on how you do what you need to do. But, it’s still packed with great features. You can customize the journal to fit what you’re looking for. I absolutely love the new books they’re offering, too. I just ordered my first one and now I have a ready made scrapbook for last year with the click of a button!
  • Great app except...

Am I the only person out there that is getting really annoyed by all of these apps going on a subscription model? Just let me buy the app outright. $25 for pro? $50? Whatever. But subscription only? Sorry, no sale.
  • It's simply the best!

I have been using Day One since it was first released. The fearure I like the most is "On this day". It tells you what you were doing today, a "year ago" and for as far back on this day for as you have been using the app. A reminder that 4 years ago on this day you were on vacation at whereever. Very cool. I like journalling for reflection & Day One does the trick.
  • Rip. Off.

Why anyone would pay a subscription to this app that is worth only, at most, a one time price of $2.99 is beyond me. No video integration and the background is simply boring. I have paid much less for apps that are much more detailed with graphics. Look at complete anatomy for instance. 3D rendering of the entire human anatomy for around $12, AND you own it. This subscription business is simply ridiculous.
  • A trial of Premium would be nice

I enjoy it, but a trial of Premium would be a nice addition.
  • Clear focus, beautiful design, superior tech

This is an impeccable, superbly designed piece of software. It started out great and has just improved over the years. For journaling, there is nothing better!
  • It’s amazing!!!!

I love the new update to Day One. I love being able to write a novel of my life that I know someday can be printed and put in book form. That is awesome! It makes me happy to know all of my journaling will not be lost in the app to never be kept in physical reading form to have as a keepsake. I am so much more in touch with who I am. I love journaling in this app everyday and I love posting pics that pertain to the day. I love the fingerprint or code options. I love that I can use fingerprint to access the Day One quickly and I love the code for my husband to access if something were to happen to me one day so he along with any of my family members can get a printed book of my life. That is, if anyone wants it. Lol. Truly there is no better therapy or best friend like a good journal that allows yourself to be 100% you.
  • Perfection was achieved...five years ago

I have been using Day One (Classic) for six years, almost to the day. Last week I updated to iOS 11 only to discover that Day One Classic could no longer support Dropbox syncing and other issues were likely to follow. So I gave in and transferred my journal to the new Day One, version 2. I knew there would be features I didn’t need, which had stopped me from upgrading all these years, but I didn’t realize how limiting the new version would be. The departure from a single purchase to a subscription plan is the most frustrating. I was happy to invest in an app that worked and gave me the features I needed, but I’m unwilling to pay $35 every year just to be able to sync between my phone and my laptop. As far as other features go, I will never ever want my innermost thoughts and feelings published in a physical format. I don’t need multiple journals, and I definitely don’t need to accidentally press the button that prompts a reminder that I can purchase the option of creating multiple journals (if I don’t have the feature, can’t you just hide that button? PLEASE?) While being able to upload multiple photos per entry is NICE, there was a calmness about choosing the one that most reflected that day (I’m nitpicking now.) With the new subscription model, the app seems to have switched from a great personal journal app to a quasi-long form social media app, an unnecessary mix between a public blog and a private journal—which is not what I wanted from the original app. I sympathize with a company’s need to continually bring in revenue, but this version feels so different from the app I fell in love with years ago. Sure I sound like an old person getting used to TV after the days of radio, but I’m truly disappointed that I have to give upon the Mac app just to continue using my own journal on my phone. I’ll continue using it—the free version—but only until something much better (and compatible with my 1000+ entries) comes along. RIP Day One Classic
  • Great app...even better customer service

Simple and straightforward. Beautiful as well. And when you screw up and cannot remember your password, or login or anything...they’ve got super engaged support. Just email them and ask!
  • Don't interrupt!

You want a review but the position of your popup is covered by the keyboard do I can't even cancel the review or write in the journal. Actually I love Day One but just don't make it impossible to write in the journal. It's counterproductive.
